Emily Slotegraaf (MDiv 2017), a second-year Clinical Counselling student, works in the Jane and Finch area in Toronto, Ontario with “Role Model Moms GED” to help teen moms achieve their high school equivalency. She admits that in her position she has faced many challenges and wrestled with heartache. “I’ve…grappled with the brokenness that people experience and tried to figure out where is God in this…I deal with [students who have experienced] rape, abuse, rejection, and depression.” Despite the challenges of her ministry, Emily enjoys her work and takes comfort in the knowledge that God calls her to it. At Tyndale, Emily has begun to have “hope for healing” as she grows in her knowledge of the integration of psychology and theology.
When you give to Tyndale, you enable people like Emily to bring wholeness into broken places. Your giving helps Tyndale shape the women and men who transform their urban communities into places of healing.
